Thank you WNPV. Here is the District 1 AAAA bracket. It looks like Souderton again instead of Pennridge 2 weeks in a row. Quakertown has the unenviable task of hosting a Ridley team coming off their loss to Garnet Valley. And Neshaminy is in the other half of the bracket!

Hatboro-Horsham hosts North Penn on Friday. H-H has been a tough team to figure out this year. After losses to 2 good teams, Frankford & Neshaminy, to start the year, they have gone 4-2 to even up their record at 4-4. They have beaten a pretty good Quakertown team, but lost to less than stellar Central Bucks East. Last Friday, they put up 56 points against CB South.
Hatboro’s hope for a post-season rests on an underdog win over North Penn this Friday. Based on North Penn’s performance so far this year, it seems unlikely.
As for the District 1 AAAA playoff picture, things have gotten muddied by Penncrest’s victory over Ridley. It’s quite possible that Penncrest, Ridley, Garnet Valley, Downingtown West, Abington and Neshaminy could all end up at 9-1. My guess on the order would be for the top 7 would be North Penn, Neshaminy, Penncrest, Abington, Ridley, Downingtown West, and Garnet Valley.
I would think that Coatesville, Upper Dublin, Glen Mills, Pennsbury, Quakertown, Council Rock South, and CB East (if they can beat Souderon) could be further down in the bracket. I’m not going to speculate beyond that.

I will admit beforehand, that 48 hours from now, everything may look different. With 4 weeks left, looking ahead to District 1 playoff seeding starts to get interesting. Currently, 3 of the top 20 teams have 3 losses. (As calc’d by http://www.pawrsl.com/pfn/rankings_2008_dist01_12.htm).
At the top, it is likely you’ll have North Penn followed by whoever wins the Ridley-Garnet Valley game. I haven’t seen anything that makes me think that North Penn won’t win out against Quakertown, Souderton, Hatboro & Pennridge. I fully expect Ridley and Garnet Valley to both be 9-0 when they meet on Halloween. All 3 should be near the top of the playoff seedings.
Downingtown West should also be right up at the top with a single loss. I expect Neshaminy to rise above Pennsbury & Abington and be a 3, 4 or 5 seed, but things could work out that all 3 have 2 losses on November 2. Quakertown is another team that could be somewhere in the 4-8 slot with a single loss, or somewhat further down if they drop 2.
After that, things get a little fuzzy. Penncrest & Upper Dublin currently only have 1 loss apiece. They both certainly have a shot (although Penncrest plays Ridley tomorrow night, so either they will have 2 losses or my Halloween game between undefeated Ridley-Garnet Valley goes down the drain). It looks like there will be a fair number of 3 loss teams at the bottom of the 16 team bracket. Glen Mills, CR South, Cheltenham, Coatesville, Upper Darby could all be there.
I’ve only mentioned 15 potential District 1 AAAA Football playoff teams. The 16th will have to remain a mystery - for now. I will say that I think that Souderton, Wissahickon, CB South are not going to be playing in November this year, unless they schedule a Turkey Day game.

The 2nd string JV & sophomores were playing when CB East scored their touchdown as time ran out to make the score 42-10. When I look at the games that other SOL Continental teams have been played this year, consistency is the last thing I think of. I can think of a lot of possibilities: poor preparation, mental lapses, coaching mistakes, but I don’t understand how Souderton can beat Neshaminy and then lose to CB West. I hate to take anything for granted - maybe CB West will beat North Penn tomorrow. It doesn’t seem likely, though.
Ronnie Akins got his picture attached to the Inquirer article on the top 10 wide receivers in Southeastern PA. I suppose it’s only fitting that the picture is from the St. Joe’s Prep game that featured less than 50 yards total passing and Ronnie got his touchdown on a 70+ yard punt return.

Last week there were numerous articles about North Penn’s 14-7 slog through the mud against St. Joe’s Prep. This week the only thing I can find is the Doylestown Intelligencer’s Big second quarter lifts North Penn. And it doesn’t even show up on google news! (Something is going on there, but this is a football blog). Ronnie Akins ran for 1 and caught 2 touchdowns in the 2nd quarter to put North Penn up 21-0 at the half. North Penn went up 28-0 before South was able to get their passing game going and score a couple of touchdowns in the 4th quarter.
Two more weeks of Central Bucks coming up. East this Friday and then West on October 3rd. Both games are at War Memorial Stadium in Doylestown.

Well, here we are again, week three and the site is finally coming together. Every year is somewhat of a struggle as the summer winds down but this year in particular was hectic. I started a new job (a great job, maybe the perfect job) about a month ago, so I have been trying to balance a new job with many responsibilities, with my on-going commitment to this website. It’s always a labor of love, but this year was extra heavy on the labor part.
Anyway, I couldn’t be more excited about this blog. This will become the hub of the website, and my intention is to get bloggers of all shapes and colors, from all over the state and even the country to come together and talk about high school football. This blog has the capabilities of any other around the internet and uses the very powerful, very free, open-source code of Wordpress.
If you don’t know what a blog is the reader’s digest version is this: A blog is a website that is constantly updated with new content. It might just be words or video or links, or just a couple thoughts on what happened in the game last night. I can create users that have the ability to post anything they want in real time. The best part is that it gives the average reader the ability to post comments and engage other users in conversation regarding a particular post.
If you have never tried it you are going to get a heavy dose throughout the year.
If you are interested in contributing as a blogger please email me at joeypiazza@gmail.com . I would like to get at least one from every school in the league, the more dynamic we can make the site the better.
Also, please donate on the homepage, even if it’s 1 dollar, it will help keep the site going. Thanks.
